SOFTWARE ONLY: Merchants can accept contactless and Swish card payments on NFC Android phones

Food cart service provider FrostHead has provided its vendors at the Lollapalooza outdoor music festival in Sweden with the ability to accept contactless payments for food, drinks and earplugs using a software application that they can download to a standard NFC Android smartphone.

The software-only sPOS solution allowed FrostHead to deploy its clerks to multiple outdoor locations and quickly scale the number of clerks capable of accepting contactless cards and Rustling mobile payments on their NFC smartphone on demand and without the need to use additional hardware or accessories.

The surfpay The sPOS app “enabled salespeople to meet with customers in the field and online, as well as minute-by-minute terminal fleet adjustments,” says Surfboard Payments – the company that developed the solution.

“FrostHead was able to adjust the number of terminals based not only on the staff working, but also on the high number of attendees, simply by installing the app on multiple phones, removing the headache of having to manage card terminals external for the occasion.”

“My plan is to develop a franchise-like model,” says Christopher Crystal, CEO of FrostHead. With this solution, he says, “I can get multiple people, multiple units working in a very short time.”
