Indian Railways will resume ready meals service on all trains from 14 February; Here’s how to place an order through the IRCTC website

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has decided to resume cooked meals on all trains from February 14 after the service was halted last year due to Covid-19 restrictions. In January, ready meal services were restored to 80% of trains. However, ready meals will also continue to be served on demand. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting unprecedented lockdown, online catering services were suspended on March 22, 2020. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways and Textiles tweeted: “Your favorite dish will be served to you once again from February 14.”

In August last year, the IRCTC launched a ready-to-eat meal service. Cooked food services were restored to 80% of trains in January 2022.

The IRCTC had launched an online catering service in the year 2014, allowing passengers to order a range of meals of their choice from well-known brands as well as popular regional and local specialties over the phone or online while traveling by train and having the same delivered to their seat at the station. In the pre-COVID period, the IRCTC had started taking 20,000 online catering orders per day.

    Enter your ten-digit PNR number and click the arrow to continue
  3. Step 3
    Select the food from the list of available cafes, outlets, and quick service restaurants.
  4. Step 4
    Place the order and select the payment method. Either you can choose to pay online or cash on delivery.
  5. Step 5
    Once the order is placed, the food will be delivered to your seat/berth.
