UPDATE: Police are looking for a man after an armed robbery at the Martinsville grocery store

UPDATE 10.30am: Police have shared photos and a description of the man accused of stealing a cash register from Sparky’s Food Store in Martinsville on Sunday evening.

The Martinsville Police Department said officers responded to the 604 Starling Avenue store for a robbery report around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 20.

The store owner told police a man – who was wearing a black hoodie and a red bandana over his face – entered the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

After a brief struggle with the owner, authorities say the man grabbed the cash register and left the store in a dark-colored vehicle.

As of this writing, investigators and officers have already analyzed the scene for evidence, according to the department.

Police told WFXR News no one was injured in the incident.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Martinsville police are reportedly looking for a man in connection with a Sunday night armed robbery.

BTW21 reports that the incident took place around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 20 at Sparky’s Food Stores on Starling Avenue.

According to BTW21, officers say the man entered the store and threatened the manager at gunpoint, a fight broke out between the two and the man fled with the cash register.

At this time, police do not have a description of the person of interest.
